August 2011 - 2 weeks in Cornwall
We are very lucky to have access to great holiday accommodation in Cornwall, in the form of a static caravan not far from St Michael's Mount. It's in a brilliant location being about 3 miles from the south coast, 5 miles from the north coast and less than 15 miles to Lands End. So it was with great enthusiasm that I travelled down for a two week holiday this August.
Godrevy Lighthouse - part 1
One of the sites I have been to on a couple of occasions is Godrevy Lighthouse on the north coast, at the eastern end of St Ives Bay. It can be seen from some distance away and there are photographic opportunities from a number of locations. It can be a good spot at sunset - but more of that later - my first opportunities for photos this holiday were during the middle of the day, from Godrevy Beach. These photos are all grab shots, taken during a family trip to the beach, using my 100-400mm lens hand held. An added challenge was the large number of surfers and body boarders as the waves were quite big. With perseverence though, I managed a series of shots without stray heads or surf boards sticking out of the water.
